Disturbing and catchy, the lyrics lean more to the emotional side. Not being entirely a bad thing, the build-up and the intensity of the words payoff and makes this band most memorable. It makes sense that any movie or television show tries to get some of these songs on their soundtrack. Sad about one of the vocalists and never gonna see the full band together for the first time, I gotta be listening to them for over 15 years ago now.
- I got a heart full of pain, head full of stress, handful of anger, held in my chest. – Nobody’s Listening
- Yeah, here we go for the hundredth time, Hand grenade pins in every line, Throw ’em up and let something shine, Going out of my fucking mind – Bleed It Out
- Crawling in my skin, These wounds, they will not heal, Fear is how I fall, Confusing what is real, There’s something inside me that pulls beneath the surface, Consuming, confusing, This lack of self control I fear is never ending, Controlling, I can’t seem, To find myself again, My walls are closing in, (Without a sense of confidence I’m convinced, That there’s just too much pressure to take), I’ve felt this way before, So insecure – Crawling
- Take me down to the river bend, take me down to the fighting end. Wash the poison from off my skin, and show me how to be whole again. – Castle Of Glass
- Memories consume like opening the wound, I’m picking me apart again, You all assume, I’m safe here in my room, Unless I try to start again, I don’t want to be the one the battles always choose, ‘Cause inside I realize that I’m the one confused, I don’t know what’s worth fighting for, Or why I have to scream, I don’t know why I instigate, And say what I don’t mean, I don’t know how I got this way, I know it’s not alright, So I’m breaking the habit, I’m breaking the habit tonight – Breaking The Habit
- I’ve lied to you, The same way that I always do, This is the last smile, That I’ll fake for the sake of being with you, (Everything falls apart, even the people who never frown eventually break down), The sacrifice of hiding in a lie, (Everything has to end, you’ll soon find we’re out of time left to watch it all unwind), The sacrifice is never knowing, Why I never walked away, Why I played myself this way, Now I see your testing me pushes me away, Why I never walked away, Why I played myself this way, Now I see your testing me pushes me away – Pushing me Away
- Why does it feel like night today? Something in here’s not right today, Why am I so uptight today? Paranoia’s all I got left – Papercut
- I want to heal, I want to feel, What I thought was never real, I want to let go of the pain I felt so long, I want to heal, I want to feel, Like I’m close to something real, I want to find something I’ve wanted all along, Somewhere I belong – Somewhere I Belong
- I need a little room to breathe, Cause I’m one step closer to the edge, And I’m about to break – One Step Closer
- No, no turning back now, I want to be pushed aside, so let me go, No, no turning back now, Let me take back my life, I’d rather be all alone, No, no turning back now, Anywhere on my own because I can see, No, no turning back now, The very worst part of you, The very worst part of you is me – Lying From You
- And you think compassion’s a flaw, And you’ll never let it show, And you’re sure you’ve hurt in a way, That no one will ever know – Robot Boy
- Time is a valuable thing. Watch it fly by as the pendulum swings. Watch it count down to the end of the day, the clock ticks life away! – In The End
- When life leaves us blind, Love keeps us kind – The Messenger
- It’s true, the way I feel was promised by your face, The sound of your voice painted on my memories, Even if you’re not with me, I’m with you – With You
Recently getting back to them through various covers, the nostalgic ness gives me new-found respect. Hence why this list was born containing an honouring of anthems and post-genre sound before modern times. Inspiring beyond the mental health references, I highly recommend this band for all; not too heavy but enough versatile tone to appeal to most.
