Looking at the reviews of this movie made me want to review this film. Captain Marvel is an attempt to have a Wonder Woman inspiration in the Marvel cinematic universe. Pre and post-release this movie was not short of controversy for many reasons. Regardless of how this movie was presented, it was successful at the box office having a budget of 152-163 million budget and made $1.128 billion making it the 22nd highest-grossing film of all time.
Development for this movie started as early as May 2013. It loosely follows a Captain Marvel story from the Roy Thomas’s 1971 Kree-Skull War comic. And then this adaption is set in 1995 creating an origin story with Earth caught in the centre of a galactic conflict between two alien races. To prepare for Captain Marvel’s appearance in the recent Avengers: Endgame this movie was a set up to a prequel to suggest that Captain Marvel has always been there.
Stan Lee: Trust me, true believer. Trust me.
I had to watch this one myself to have an opinion about the controversy involved in this movie. From a certain perspective, you could think that this movie and its female writers were virtue signally forced women empowerment that looked bad in certain. Epically in how the lead actor Brie Larson spoke about it in promoting it. Expecting full-on cringe when I started watching the film, it only had two or three SJW (Social Justice Warrior) Influenced comments in it.
Saying that this movie did not stand out from the rest op the Marvel Cinematic Universe began that it was a typical superhero movie with a lot of action and good special effects but went too fast to develop characters and plot into something more developed and unexpected. Samuel L Jackson makes this movie fun, but the Captain Marvel character is bland for most of this movie which does play a part in the story
