Alone, awake with the craving
I watch my step, I’m calculating
On how I’m taking this motherfucker down, down, down, down, down
I don’t know what I am thinking
Sometimes I feel like I am sinking
Into the ground I’ll call my grave – Cold – Korn – The Nothing

Influenced by personal material, the thirteenth studio album by the band Korn does not shy away from the things that made them famous in the first place. Receiving a positive reaction once it was released on September 13th, 2019, I have been meaning to create this review. Korn has made a lot of albums over the years more than most and this one may be one of the most memorable. Before checking out individual songs recommended below, this album needs you to consider listening to it in order.

Lyrically, this is the most authentic and honest expression from lead singer Jonathan Davis. Within the atmospheric Nine Inch Nails like piano and drums the rhythms and tones have changes in their highs and lows. How the songs are ordered switches in-between very heavy to then a slower pace which could appeal to different kinds of people.

This may be the best Korn album since 2002 (Untouchables) although do not have high expectations about it. With a more modern sound, each song has a familiar tone to it. In what it lacks in its music, Jonathan Davis gives the best songs the emotive edge through original vocals. Wanting Korn to have some more experimental songs, I still enjoyed its body of work to give it an above-average rating.

Humiliating, I fall to its craving
It feeds on the doubt in my heart
Sinking and fading, our feelings I’m saving
To fix what I tore all apart – You’ll Never Find Me – Korn – The Nothing
