UFC 249: Live updates, results, start time: Tony Ferguson vs ...

UFC is back and better than ever! The whole card itself has been highly anticipated since the postponement of many shows. Originally many fans were excited for Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson although the biggest fight that UFC could pull of was changed and Justin Gaethje was replaced. Not very familiar with these fighters anyway, I now know them as 5 round competitors in their own right.

The Tale of the tape is nearly completely the same. Heavy favoured Ferguson is four years old and has an extra 6.5 reach compared to Justin. Then in the win/loss records, Justin is 22-2-0 to Ferguson’s 25 – 4 – 0. Based on that information, I am keen to see what happens to consume this contest after being live.

The recap begins in round one, throwing quick strikes at each other while being defensive. Fergs seems the more experienced iso far going high and low (Plus a shot direct to the knee.) Then Gaethje’s seemed sharper with Tony knowing his being hit. Taking his time and playing possum, he pushes Gaethje to blow out steam early. A big uppercut to Justin and round 1 ends.

Fergs is a beast evenly throwing bombs with his opponent with a swollen eye not losing a beat. The pace gets more intense as more timed shots get louder in an empty arena. Clean and professional and the second bell rings. Joe Rogan declares this is the most punishment Ferguson has even taken. Lesser clean shots with big misses although solid punches still land.

Round 4 is Justin delivers a lot in a row taking control. Brutally technical this was a test of endurance I want to see more. If there was an audience, they would be blowing the roof of the building. Stunning and picking his shots, Justin’s making a name defining moment in his career. To a point where he just keeps dominating until 3:39 in found 5.

The underdog overcomes the odds in a very engaging fight. So much for Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson, it should be Justin Gaethje vs Khabib Nurmagomedov. Being the first mainstream live sporting event to go ahead in weeks, this main event was more than worth recapping. The video below will most likely be taken down fairly soon so check it out now if you have not seen it yet.
