Since writing about this movie as news when the official trailer came out, a couple of days ago I experienced the finale of the Breaking Bad franchise. This original Netflix movie was created by the original creator of Breaking Bad (Vince Gillian) it only had a $6 million budget. That budget was more than enough to create a story worth telling.
Without context from the previous stories, anyone could appreciate its terrific cinematography which captures Vince Gillian’s personal style. And the performance in the acting shows real stakes and threats that you can get invested behind. SPOILERS!, with the context you will also be executed to see Mike, Badger, Skinny Pete, and Walter White in different scenes among other characters you would not expect from the series.
Does this movie hold up compared to the perfection of Breaking Bad? Overall it is not a ten out of ten movies that a lot of fanboys have rated it online. It was very slow-paced out through the movie where when scenes went high, it was not as impactful as it could have been and when it was low, those parts were not as memorable. Regardless it was a fitting end to wrap up the character of Jesse Pinkman even though I found this movie predictable at times.
