A quotes list created by Lee Sonogan

In my research alone, there are enough quotes here to make me want to read his book. Dave Rubin is a moderate right-leaning political commentator that I have only just found in all the interviews I consume. Seeing more than enough of him now, it is time to honour his words that I resonate with. Former comedian and now long time YouTube personality, he determines himself as a classical liberal, a free thinker from both conservative and libertarian views.
- Somehow, defending my liberal values of free speech, liberty, and rights of the individual has become a conservative position. Dave Rubin
- As a comedian, frankly, I don’t care that much about bad jokes. Dave Rubin
- I’ve reluctantly reached after years of watching my old “team” transform into a baying mob of hysterical puritans—a feral gang that sows division through identity politics and encourages societal tribes to rank themselves in a pecking order of “oppression. Dave Rubin, Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason
- Sometimes inaction is worse than action. Dave Rubin
- Whatever differences we have, tolerating others’ opinions is a prerequisite to a functioning and free society. Dave Rubin
- Prohibiting any words not approved of as ‘politically correct’ – that’s not progressive. Putting ‘trigger warnings’ on books, movies, music, anything that might offend people – that’s not progressive, either. Dave Rubin
- Obviously, I agree with Trump on many of his criticisms of the mainstream media. You can absolutely argue that their failure to report honestly, to get outraged before we could, and to collude with the Clinton campaign directly led to the rise of Trump. Dave Rubin
- Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.” In other words, today’s progressives have now become the sexists and racists they’ve claimed to hate. ― Dave Rubin, Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason
- We voted for Obama on rhetoric of ‘hope and change.’ We voted for him because of some idea that he was beyond politics and certainly beyond partisanship. Dave Rubin
- “I would rather be defined by what I support than what I oppose.” Dave Rubin, Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason
- This is because outward virtue signaling is separate from being a considerate, moral person. Whereas the latter is central for common decency (and is something we should all strive for), the former is just a display of faux morality. One that’s designed to offer protection from the mob ever turning on them. It’s a protection racket—a form of insurance. You scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours. Dave Rubin, Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason
- You are the one who makes the choices that control your fate. Dave Rubin
- Trust me, beaut fades, but dumb is forever. Dave Rubin, Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason
- Even though standup seems like one-way conversation, if you’re doing it right, it’s actually a two-way discussion between the comic and the audience… the audience just happens to be communicating through laughter. Dave Rubin
- “If we’re going to confront reality honestly, then nothing can be off-limits. Our power structures, our political leaders, and our religious institutions all must be fair game in a free society. There’s a fine line when jokes and mockery become cruel and pointless, but this is the line comedians have toed since the beginning of time. We must relentlessly defend their ability not only to push our limits but also to occasionally trip over the line into sacrilege and controversy.” ― Dave Rubin, Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason
