Are you a boy or a girl? or at least something in between? Understanding that there is a spectrum between gender identity and expression, why create a new label outside logical definitions all together? Regardless of what you want to believe, humans will always display either male or female traits. Anything less deforms natural absolutes into niche behaviours in an attempt to stand out from what is the norm. You still display masculine and feminine factors down to the centre core so why not answer the beginning question with being both?
“Some people are born in the mountains, while others are born by the sea. Some people are happy to live in the place they were born, while others must make a journey to reach the climate in which they can flourish and grow. Between the ocean and the mountains is a wild forest. That is where I want to make my home.” ― Maia Kobabe, Gender Queer
The justification of being non-binary can be taken in either two ways. One way is avoiding gender stereotypes all together (Gender-nonconforming > Which most in the public from what I have seen don’t do) or embrace a half glass full fluidity of both. When both elements of humanity are portrayed allows anyone to take you seriously, other than that in the forced emotional overreaction without personality is just boring uncomplexity.
This is where the LGTBQ+ becomes confusing as the queer or question part can justify anything and their community has to accept it. Non-binary is a fine name if you embrace what it is about being a single part of your identity easier to deal with compared to others, non-adhering to gender roles at all can lead to some radical or extreme ideas usually to the only benefit of the individual’s sanity who does so.
While this minority only happens with lower than 1 percent of the world’s population, I do not see any facts or figures to make me think differently. There are no individuals with these political views to realistically look up to or be positively influenced by. Maybe if a colourful non-binary person without any lines of absolute gender of undeniable wisdom who impacts the world in what’s right I would be able to change my mind.
