Since climate change is a hot topic in the last few months, it is time to speak about it. You can not deny that changes in our climates around the world for the worst are happening because of direct human actions. But this Greta Thunberg and other activists protesting around the world is wasted time and effort that does not accomplish anything. Instead of virtue signally and blaming/judging all sorts of people for this issue, offer real solutions the will unite us as a people.
“This is all wrong. I shouldn’t be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean. Yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you!” – Greta Thunberg
Like a lot of issues debated, climate change has become either extreme right in your highly sceptical or the extreme left where everything contributes to climate change. Looking at both sides yes humans directly create greenhouse gases that affect our environment, but from what I can research, there are bigger polluters than others that are not getting any of the blame. India and China as the biggest contributors to air pollution due to their increasing urban traffic congestion, fossil fuel-powered heavy industry, construction, and the burning of agricultural land post harvests.
Offering some solutions to climate change, we need to invest in alternative energy more than ever. But these technologies and methods in some cases do not exist. And the current science behind alternative energy costs money that the average person would not want to pay for in their taxes like many taxed services people complain about. Instead of yelling into the wind, and getting likes on your social media, how about doing the hard thing and educate yourself where you can contribute to a better world.
I have to say these bold statements because it is an important issue and I strongly dislike how it is approached where it divides us. By this time next year, this trend of protesting will be forgotten and something new will be complained about with no real results. The damage to the ozone layer is already done, and any activism that creates awareness creates more issues than what is really needed.
