This ongoing internet joke has been a trend that everyone has been talking about recently atleast once. Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us is a Facebook event that has two million attending with above one and a half million interested. More than a meme getting attention on the mainstream, the closest towns were all booked up as soon as the event went viral. My predictions are going to be obvious and explain why this has always been a bad idea.
Similar to any protest, people are going to turn up for the hell of it. Or benefit from it somehow like how celebrities and businesses are using this day for their advantage. Also, there is a video game coming out with the same title as the event. With quotes like “If we Naruto run, we can move faster than their bullets. Lets see them aliens.” and the creator saying “This is a joke, and I do not actually intend to go ahead with this plan. I just thought it would be funny and get me some thumbsy uppies on the internet,” there are plenty of people that will actually show up but not as nearly as much as the millions who reacted to this event.
I see the climax of this heading in either two directions. One would be people definitely showing up but are blocked from every important direction and then nothing happens. Then secondly it would be a worse case scenario if every form of groups who go to protests such as Antifa and extreme ideology individuals turn up together and then they may turn on each other not even getting past anything. And then a hostile crowd may make the security personnel have to react, but in minor non-lethal ways.
By now it is expected that mainstream news and such will cover this story on the day and hype it up even more somehow. Overall it would be a difficult time of the year for a crowd in the small surrounding towns and anyone else in the past who has gone close to Area 51 has always been bad. Many people have been fined with even a documented incident involving a man shot dead for intruding. Area 51 is an active area but if you believe the Bob Lazar story, the alien stuff was never at Area 51.
Finally, with this message addressing the event, the US Air Force has responded with “The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets,”. I doubt anything important will happen on this day and it will be forgotten about by the end of the year.
