Freddie Mercury: I’m not the leader of Queen, I’m only the lead singer.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a biographical film which captures the essence of Freddie Mercury and the band Queen. This movie Follows Freddie’s life from when he joined the band in 1970 and the Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium in 1985. Taking a long time to get out of pre-production, Rami Malek was the final choice to play Freddie. Known for playing a character in the tv show Mr Robot, his performance of Freddie was good enough for him to win the Best Actor award at the Academy Awards.
With a budget between $50-55 million, this movie made $876 million at the box office making it the sixth highest grossing movie of 2018. Impressively using the music of Queen to their advantage, as a result, the songs played were perfectly timed to the fun scenes and the more drama based scenes. Also, some of the scenes showed how they created some parts of a few songs.
Overall I am going to summarise this movie as the best film that came out in 2018. It is one of the best music genred movies out there. Near perfect blend of fun and sad scenes. Performances by most people are impressive. The cinematic style that is relevant to the music and relevant to the time period. Then ending concludes with a portrayal of one of the best rock and roll live performances of all time. I recommend this movie to any fan of Queen who wants to know more about the real life of Freddie Mercury.
Freddie Mercury: Freddie fucking Mercury.
