An album review written by: Lee Sonogan
Slipknot 66:19 (2001) Nu Metal
I’ve known faces that have disappeared in time
Find me wrapped in glass and slowly soaked in lime
All my friends have pictures made to make you cry
I’ve seen this and wondered what I’ve done to
Calcify – Left Behind, Slipknot
The second studio album by Slipknot is by far the best album the band has created. A combination of heavy metal, hard rock and nu-metal, it is one of the genres best and what this sound should sound like. The pressure was high to make this album. Being successful in their endeavours this album launched Slipknot into mainstream success.
List of songs on this album:
- (515)
- People = Shit (Recommended)
- Disasterpiece
- My Plague (Recommended)
- Everything Ends
- The Heretic Anthem (Recommended)
- Gently
- Left Behind (Recommended)
- The Shape
- I Am Hated
- Skin Ticket (Recommended)
- New Abortion
- Metabolic
- Iowa (Recommended)
Iowa is also the bands longest album. Not everyone will be able to appreciate the musical style of Slipknot. But, any metal or rock fan can understand its originality. Lyrically Corey Taylor nails each song with an aggressive tone. Musically every possible space is covered. Being very heavy, this album may have developed to greatness because the percussionist Shawn Crahan stated “When we did Iowa, we hated each other. We hated the world; the world hated us,”. I recommend this album to all fans of heavy sounding music.
7.9/10
I’m a pop star threat, and I’m not dead yet
Got a super dread bet with an angel drug head
Like a dead beat winner, I wanna be a sinner
An idolized bang for the industry killer – The Heretic Anthem, Slipknot
