Jimmy King: I will rule you!
Ready to Rumble is a buddy comedy film based on the former professional wrestling promotion, World Championship Wrestling. Regarded as a terrible movie, it is a memorable movie for any wrestling fan who watch it during the nineties or enjoy professional wrestling history. Starring David Arquette as the main character, he is actually professional wrestling in independent shows now to get some credit back from making this movie.
With a budget of $24 million, this movie made $12.5 million at the box office. David Arquette was given the WCW World Heavyweight title two weeks after the release of the movie as a promotional stunt. He lost the title in a cage match similar to the one at the end of the movie.
List of former WCW professional wrestlers featured in this film:
- Sting
- Diamond Dallas Page
- Goldberg
- Booker T
- Bam Bam Bigelow
- Randy Savage
- Sid Vicious
- Juventud Guerrera
- Curt Hennig
- Billy Kidman
- Rey Mysterio Jr.
- Perry Saturn
- John Cena (Uncredited)
Maybe the not the best story that it could be, but entertaining in its own way. Full of action and humour or acquired taste, this movie does have memorable parts. It is a wrestling fan’s movie for sure. The ending may be the best part of this movie with the three stages of hell match. I recommend this movie to wrestling fans of old and new.
