Rocky Balboa: In the ring, you got rules. Outside, you got nothing. Life hits you with all these cheap shots. People like me, we live in the past. You got people that need you now. You got everything to lose, this guy has got nothing to lose.
The upcoming sports drama film created and produced by Sylvester Stallone. The film follows Adonis Creed training in order to defeat the son of Ivan Drago, the powerful athlete who killed his father in the ring more than 30 years prior. Rocky Balboa and Ivan Drago return as their old characters. Sylvester Stallone was initially penned to also direct, but eventually backed out. Creed 2 will be released 21 November 2018
Creed, was a box-office and critical success and was Jordan’s first time fronting a major studio movie. This movie was initially expected to come out in 2017 but Jordan had scheduling issues because he was still filming Black Panther. It is rumoured that this will be Stallone’s last appearance as Rocky Balboa. Despite that rumour, Stallone looks to be as good as shape as in Rocky V. He should close out the trilogy if this new movie is sucessful.
Creed directer Ryan Coogler’s film was all about the son battling to free himself from his father’s shadow, and discovering that by only accepting the family mantle will he find peace. Steven Caple Jr.’s Creed 2 film stokes the fire of prode once again but suggests happiness can only be found with Juustice. The morality of this new story is a bit murkey for sure.
For fans of the franchise the trailer reveals interesting relevent moments in this movie. Such as a training scene with shadow boxing underwater. At this point there has to be a bit of absurdity of drama to make this franchise work. I hope Caple is able to deliever an amount of style that compliments the first Creed’s vision. I do not see to much creative ideas in display but there is enough for a price of a ticket.
