The greatest music festival that I have been to. On March 2, 2012 I went to the Soundwave festival for the second time. Soundwave was an annual music festival held in major cities around Australia. I attented the festival in Melbourne. Day events from bands in the heavy metal, alternative metal and rock, metalcore, punk rock and pop punk genres. This festival featured 95 acts across eleven stages. 95 acts is almost too much.

The lineup for the 2012 festival was first announced on 7 October 2011. It announced featured bands such as System of a Down, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit and Marilyn Manson. Some other bands that played that year includes: A Day to Remember, Machine Head, Lamb of God, Mastodon, Steel Panther, CKY, Alter Bridge and much more. It was impossible to see every band I wanted on that day.

List of bands I remember seeing live:

  • Steel Panther (First time seeing)
  • Alter Bridge (Second time seeing)
  • Meshuggah (First time seeing)
  • A Day to Remember (First time seeing)
  • Marilyn Manson (First time seeing)
  • Limp Bizkit (First time seeing)
  • Slipknot (First time seeing)
  • System of a Down (First time seeing)

Probably at least two more bands I saw. Wish I also saw Mastodon, Shadow Falls and Gojira. Got in the mosh pit seeing Meshuggah, Slipknot and System of a Down. Nearly got squished to death getting to the front of stage 1 and 2. But I am glad I did because I got to see my favourite band live. I recommend Soundwave to come back to Australia from a different rich music promoter. Soundwave being canceled in 2016 it has been said the former promoter AJ Maddah owed over $11 million to all the bands who played in 2015.

9.35/10
