Batman Ninja, a movie review

An animated movie review written by: Lee Sonogan

(2018) Animation, action

This movie is about Batman, along with a number of his allies and adversaries, who find themselves transplanted from modern Gotham City to feudal Japan. Development on Batman Ninja began in 2014. In its American release, writers Leo Chu and Eric Garcia have admitted to rewriting the film from the original Japanese script written by Kazuki Nakashima.

The fight scenes were filmed with live actors and then animation was created using that footage. In the first fight between Batman and Joker this is used decently. From there each action scene to come after would be way less impressive. Other DC comics characters in this movie include Gorilla Grodd, Alfred, Poison Ivy, Bane, Two-Face, Penguin, Deathstroke, Carwomen and more.

The worst animated DC movie I have seen. While some critics rate this higher, the adaption is clearly for a younger audience. The one scene with The Joker and Harley Quinn farming is the best story telling in the whole film. Mostly everything else became very unrealistic and to jokey. The ending was one of the most stupid and ridiculous fights I have seen. I recommend this movie to young people who are just getting into DC comics.

PS – I will not be watching this movie ever again!

4.4/10

Catwoman: Isn’t a gorilla eating a banana a little cliche?

Gorilla Grodd: Says the cat burglar wearing a cat costume.
