The iconic Watchmen comic-book series is being made into at tv show from HBO. Two years ago, it was reported that Zack Snyder was developing a TV series for HBO based on the graphic novel Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. In June his year, it was reported that Damon Lindelof would get a go at the infamously unadaptable project for HBO. It will be will not be a re-telling of the story from the original graphic novel, but rather a new story in the same world with new characters set in the present day. A new and original sequel to Watchmen!
Damon Lindelof’s “Watchmen” pilot at HBO has already set a number of actors in key roles, Variety has learned. Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens, and Andrew Howard will all appear in the series. The exact details of their characters are being kept under wraps. Damon said there will be “New faces. New masks to cover them. We also intend to revisit the past century of Costumed Adventuring through a surprising yet familiar set of eyes…and it is here we will be taking our greatest risks,”.
The new show will be produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. For longer then six months the show has been written. Many fans wondering what this tv show will be Lindelof posted a 5 paged open letter on Instagram about it. https://www.instagram.com/p/BjFsj6JHEdq/ One thing for sure, the show will have a lot more freedom. The Leftovers created by Damon Lindelof and Tim Perrotta is something I have not seen but according to IMDB it is 8.2/10 and the story sounds interesting enough to have a chance of creating a good and new Watchmen story.
The possibility of what this show could be is endless. HBO never disappoints so my expectations are currently high for it. It could be the most relevent political superhero show ever made! Well I hope it can live up to the hype of the original graphic novel’s standards and style while still being great at being something new. You gotta think that Dr Manhattan will eventually be in it. As he is the only superhero with actual powers in the current Watchmen franchise. You should read the original graphic novel first before the first episode of the series comes out.
