A movie review by: Lee Sonogan
1hr44min(2017) Biography, comedy, drama
Greg Sestero: You’re really gonna make this thing?
Tommy Wiseau: No, Greg. We are going to do it. Together.
Based on a true story, Greg Sestero, an aspiring film actor, meets the weird Tommy Wiseau in an acting class, they form a unique friendship and travel to Hollywood to make their dreams come true. This film tells the story of how the infamous The Room movie got made and what happened during filming. With The Room getting a lot of low reviews from critics, this movie has gotten many high reviews.
James Franco was mentioned in “The Disaster Artist,” the book on which this film is based. Greg Sestero stated that when he was writing the book, Tommy Wiseau said that only two actors could play him in the adaptation would be James Franco or Johnny Depp. The film features five Oscar-nominated actors: James Franco, Jacki Weaver, Sharon Stone, Melanie Griffith and Bryan Cranston.
You will appreciate this movie if you have seen the movie called The Room. Without watching the first movie you will not be able to understand some of the little references and dialogue. The ending is interesting with The Room finished and everybody is watching it for the first time in an audience. The reactions of the crowd in the theatre is good. I recommend checking out this movie if you like seeing how a movie is being made with good comedy.
7.4/10
Greg Sestero: Tommy, dude, this really isn’t necessary.
Tommy Wiseau: No, no! Very necessary. I need to show my ass to sell this picture.
