Super Mario Sunshine, a video game review

A video game review written by: Lee Sonogan

(2002) Action, adventure, comedy

Police Officer: Go straight that way. You can’t miss the mess, pal! Your first job’s to get rid of all that ugliness. And remember, we’ll be watching you, pal. We’ll know if you start slacking off!

This was Mario’s first official game for the Nintendo GameCube. And I game I want to play again badly. The game takes place on the tropical Isle Delfino, where Mario, Toadsworth, Princess Peach and five Toads are taking a vacation. A villain resembling Mario, known as Shadow Mario, vandalizes the island with graffiti and Mario gets blamed for the mess. Mario is ordered to clean up Isle Delfino, using a device called the Flash Liquidizer Ultra Dousing Device or FLUDD, while saving Princess Peach from Shadow Mario.

By 2006 the video game has had sold over five million copies. It is currently third in the best-selling GameCube games of all time. Reviewers praised this game for its graphics for the time, Mario array of parkour moves and the addition game mechanics using FLUDD strapped to your back. Accordingly, Mario’s voice actor, Charles Martinet stated that Super Mario Sunshine is an underrated game in the franchise. Below this paragraph is review scores of the video game:

One island full of so much stuff and worlds. The island even includes a Yoshi to ride. There is seven locations/worlds on the island you can go to. They each offer something different and change each time when you complete an episode. The first location is a town at Bianco Hills. Then there is Ricco Harbor along the ocean. Gelato Beach is the first big beach area on the island. Pinna Park is an amusement park. Sirena Beach has a large hotel on it. Hotel Defino. Big waterfalls and mountains at Noki Bay. Then the last location is called Pianta Village with real interesting environments.

Possibly one of the most fun and enjoyable Mario video games out there to play. Worlds worth remembering. Interesting soundtrack. Fun missions and puzzles. Easter eggs and hidden shine levels. Boss battle features. Various types of enemies. Introduction to many characters. Smooth game play features. The list could go on forever describing each part’s depth. The ending gives out a final boss battle that you deserve. I recommend this video game to everyone who has played a Mario game and like parkour features in video games.

Red Toad: [examining the paint] What’s this icky, paint-like goop? Yellow Toad: It’s moving! Toadsworth: Now now, boys! Don’t touch that stuff!
