A movie review by: Lee Sonogan
(2017) 1h56min/Action comedy drama
Summer Quinn: And not a single fuck was given.
This new movie is about devoted lifeguard Mitch Buchannon butting heads with a brash new recruit, as they uncover a criminal plot that threatens the future of the bay. With a budget of 69$ million dollar budget, it made over $176 million at the box office. This movie stars Dwayne Johnson, Zac Effron and returning characters from the original series.
Zac Efron gave Dwayne Johnson all the names to call him in the movie, like One Direction and Bieber. Dwayne Johnson is the tenth professional wrestler to work on Baywatch, and the first wrestler turned actor who didn’t appear on the show. Jorge Gonzáles, Jimmy Hart, Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Leon White, Kevin Sullivan, Shawn Michaels, and Torrie Wilson appeared as guest stars on Baywatch (1989).
The film was shot in Miami, Florida and Savannah, Georgia. Justin Timberlake and Justin Bieber were rumoured to have roles in the film. Bill Hader was rumoured for the role of Mitch Buchanan. Pamela Anderson originally didn’t want to appear in the film.
I never watched the original show that was made years ago. It gotta be different. This one has a crime/comedy combo. The soundtrack has an interesting electronic sound for the more interesting scenes. The ending concludes with fireworks and a typical ending scene. Overall it is not that impressive. It has a blooper reel in the ending credits. I recommend this movie to people who like light-hearted comedy with bold dialog and humour.
5.5/10
Mitch Buchannon: [aiming a giant firework rocket at her] I’m oceanic motherfucker.
Stephanie Holden: [groaning] How tedious/tacky.
