Here is a list of ways to fall asleep. Sleep is good. Tips and tricks to get that recommend minimum of 7 hours of sleep. If these do not work I recommend that you see some sort of doctor.
- Establish a bedtime routine. And stick to it.
- Start a journal. Document your thoughts.
- Munch on magnesium.
- Try a cup of chamomile tea.
- Exercise regularly.
- Get some fresh air.
- Work out earlier in the day.
- Take a power nap during the day.
- Create a comfortable environment.
- Keep the bedroom slightly cool.
- Set a daily wake-up time. With alarms or people to wake you.
- Make up for lost sleep.
- Dim the lights or keep it dark.
- Keep caffeine fixes to mornings and early afternoons.
- Don’t toss and turn. Control yourself.
- Check the medicine cabinet.
- Leave pets on the floor.
- Face the alarm clock away.
- Get techy and use apps. Or play a game for five minutes.
- Try progressive muscle relaxation.
- Sniff some lavender. Or a lavender candle.
- Listen to soothing and relaxing music.
- Drink something warm.
- Read a book, at least one chapter..
- Change your angle how you sleep.
- Adjust your pillow.
- Adjust your sleeping surface.
- Reduce unwanted noise. Or blinking lights.
- Count sheep or something appropriate to you..
- Use your imagination and go to your happy place.
- Yoga/meditation.
- Lists of issues, ideas or thoughts.
- Read an article about getting to sleep..
- Wear socks to bed.
- Immerse your face with water for 30 seconds.
- Blow bubbles. Good breathing techniques before bed.
- The 4 -7 -8 technique.
- Hot water bottles.
- Electric blanket.
- Try staying awake and daydream your thoughts.
- Use a neck pillow.
- Use a special leg pillow.
- Use more or fewer pillows.
- Do not focus on your issues.
- Keep your mind clear of thoughts.
- Wear a sleeping mask.
- Try a different place in the house for the night.
- Get up for ten minutes, do something. Then go back to bed.
- Attempt to lucid dream and keep saying in your head “Mind awake, body asleep,”.
- Avoid eating and drinking coffee before going to bed.
Great list! But I think a critical one is missing: Don’t take smartphone/tablet to your bedroom! I believe those electronic devices cause many people awake the whole night!
Regarding pillows, I think they are important to sleep, particular people with neck problems, like me. You should pick up different heights and firmness pillows regard to your sleeping position.
