A video game review by: Lee Sonogan
(2016) Actions, Sci-fi, Horror
IMDB describes this game as on Mars, a massive research facility tapping energy from hell that has been overwhelmed by demonic forces. As the last DOOM Marine, you have been resurrected to do one thing; to cleanse this world and send them back to where they came from. As the game and story get more intense you will be thinking how much more baddies do I need to slaughter? and what are they going to throw at me next?
Despite being simply called “Doom”, the game is a direct sequel to the original Doom and Doom II. While the tentative title for this game was “Doom 4”, the third instalment is actually a remake of the original game. Therefore, calling this Doom 4 wouldn’t have been proper and iD Software chose to stick with just “Doom” for the final title.
The online features of this game are fun to play too. Various game modes and customization. With an in-depth mapmaker in the game. So that means there are possibly thousands of new shooter maps you can play on. Other than the campaign mode there is an Arcade mode and various more DLC’s.
Overall, It was a very challenging linear shooter game. I bought this game for three reasons. Many people said it was very good. A mate showed me the soundtrack of it and enjoyed it and It was special on the PS4 store for Christmas. For a shooter game with a similar concept to many games I have already played, I will go on the record and say it’s one of the top 10 shooter games out there with a linear/shooter path of gameplay. It is gory and brutal. With the multiple weapons you can use and various upgrades, you fight many and real intelligent AI along the way. The epic battles lead to you slaughtering many enemies in a fast and fun way. I can not tell you the ending as I am just about to beat the final boss in a boss battle. I recommend this game to people who love the genre, classic and shooting monsters.
