Central Intelligence, a movie review

A movie review: By Lee Sonogan

(2016) 1h47mins/Action, Comedy, Crime

Although marketing went with something different (Little Hart, big Johnson) I do think they could’ve used this one too. If you like that and are amused by any or maybe even both those word-plays, the probability is high that you will also like the movie. I know I had a lot of fun with it. At times it just seems that the direction was, these are your characters, you’re in a bar, now make it up as you go along … AND ACTION! And it does work. kosmasp (IMDB – 7/10)

An interesting crime movie that is fun and keeps you guessing. This movie is about a mild-mannered accountant who is lured into the world of international espionage. With a budget of $50 million, this movie made $214 million at the box office. This movie has well-written comedy and deeper themes.

When Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson’s characters first meet, Hart makes a reference to Johnson looking like Hercules. Johnson played Hercules in Hercules, made in 2014. Dwayne Johnson wears a fanny pack throughout the movie, and the film makes multiple comedic references to it. This is a reference to a popular meme, which shows Johnson wearing a fanny pack in the 90s.

In conclusion, this movie was more impressive than the trailer. The rock is very impressive in this movie. Creating most of the laughter and chaos in the movie. Plus the cameo appearances of big-name stars add perfectly to the overall story. It’s a long movie, so everything in it is not funny. It’s worth a watch, but still… It is a 6.6/10 movie.

If you watch this movie expecting nonstop silliness, then you’ll be in hog heaven. If you expect anything, well, intelligent, then you’ll be sorely disappointed. “Central Intelligence” pretty much understands that it’s a ridiculous buddy comedy. I knew exactly what to expect watching it. lee_eisenberg (IMDB – 5/10)
