Thoughts on the prison system

Top first reveled images on google of prison has it portrayed as a dark and scary place. Where it should be a place to reform a person. Not a business that could cause harm, greed, violence and more. Even our most evil people deserve a change to change and a civilized punishment. If our world is going to change, we need a system that changes our worst into people who can be effective in sustaining and improving the planet as a whole. In this article i will inform you about the individual and new/ideas and values on improving the prison system in different forms.

78% of inmates are non violent, only 22% are violent. That fact gives you hope that not all humans a bad. So if they were sent to prison by a trail for a poor decision that did not harm anyone. They should be all be separate from the more violent criminals. They should have more freedoms. The Norway prison system has houses where they can not leave. But that’s there only restriction. Or better yet these non violent criminals could be imprisoned by people and the community. This could create jobs for people and be cheaper to take care of the prison than in a jail. Also this system could provide tracking devices and over contingencys if the prisoner breaks the trust with the individual. What is the point of prison if you do not empower the people to change.

America has insane prison stats and figures. 1 in every 108 adults in America was in prison or jail in 2012. The 2011 U.S incarceration rate of 716 people per 100,000 population is the highest in the world. Black males have a 32% chance of serving time in prison at some point in there lives; Hispanic males have a 17% chance; white males have a 6% chance. Nearly half (47%) of people incarcerated in state prisons in 2011 were convicted of non-violent drug, property, or public order crimes. And America has over 2,200 prisons with China having 1,600 and more prisons. The US taxpayers pay about $69 billion annually to maintain the prison system. Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp is base in Cuba of the Coast from Florida.

The prison system does not work. So i have a universal idea to fix it. A solution could be is to build one world prison. One large facility large enough to fill all country’s inmates. Could be built underground or on the ocean. It would have different sections for different prisoners. Offer many opportunities to the criminals such as free online education, social facility’s, health professionals, fair paid jobs in creation and online, reward systems and so much more. Plus make the place run automatically. With a world tax, it would be cheaper to run and maintain. This would eliminate a large percentage of money you would send to prisoners anyway and you would know where your money is going. And finally make all encounters of violence and incidents should be available for the public to look at.

Things that need to be done now, is to stop releasing violent sexual criminals back into society. And if they are released, at least give them a one strike rule. Stop hiring individuals who are poorly trained and uneducated at prisons. The stanford prison experiment that shows the psychological effects proves the abuse and corruption of guards attacking Inmates. Stop the private prison industry, because a lot of criminals are being used for a profit business, especially in the US. And finally we need to revamp the enforcement and the legal system.

Maybe we should just stop some of the stupid laws that put innocent people in imprisonment and a harsh environment. War on drugs, gun control, prohibition of sex work and alcohol restricts all should be legal to everyone if they do not harm anyone. Luckily these sort of ideas are happening now in many different nations. Do not take this thoughts as anything just yet. There just some ideas that i would propose to make a sustainable and effective punishment system. Would you feel any sort of comfortably in experiencing a prison???.
